About Pro Black Belt Academy
40+ Years of PBBA Excellence Behind Every Black Belt
The Professional Black Belt Association was founded in 1982 by Grand Master Buddy Hudson, a 9th Degree Black Belt recognized in the "Who's Who of Martial Artists" and one of the most respected figures in American martial arts. His vision was straightforward: build a network of academies that could deliver nationally certified, well-rounded martial arts instruction to students of all ages and backgrounds, without compromising on standards.
Today, PBBA academies operate across Texas and beyond, all sharing a common curriculum, a shared belt system, and a culture rooted in the belief that martial arts training builds more than physical skill. It builds character, discipline, and the kind of confidence that carries into every area of a student's life.
PBBA's curriculum draws from four core disciplines: Taekwondo, American Karate, Kickboxing, and Jiu-Jitsu. The blend is intentional. Taekwondo provides the technical foundation: precise striking, a structured pattern system, and a philosophy of self-discipline built into every technique. American Karate adds power and adaptability. Kickboxing builds conditioning and timing. Jiu-Jitsu introduces ground work and real-world self-defense application.
Together these disciplines give students a complete skill set rather than a narrow specialty. Whether your goal is fitness, competition, self-defense, or simply earning your black belt, the PBBA curriculum provides a clear, structured path to get there.
PBBA North McKinney is led by Chief Instructor Andrew Miwa, a 1st Degree Black Belt in Chun-Kuk-Do with 13 years of martial arts experience including Karate, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Wrestling. Andrew has served as a Head Instructor since October 2024, teaching students from age 3 through adults while managing belt promotions, camps, community events, and student development.
We serve students of all ages and experience levels across McKinney, Prosper, and Frisco. Whether your child needs structure and confidence, or you're an adult looking to get fit and learn real self-defense skills, PBBA North McKinney is built to meet you where you are and take you further than you expected.
